The Challenge:

At ABC Suites, risk management was reactive rather than proactive. Strategic risks were discussed informally, and project-level threats were often identified too late—usually after issues had already impacted timelines, budgets, or compliance. There was no centralised system to log, score, or track risks, and no clear ownership structure to ensure mitigation actions were followed through.


Celia Fate, Head of Risk and Compliance, was increasingly concerned. Without a structured register, leadership lacked visibility into high-impact threats, and project managers had no consistent framework to assess or escalate risks. The absence of real-time reporting and audit-ready documentation left ABC Suites exposed—not just operationally, but reputationally.

By adopting Epic’s Risk Register, ABC Suites gained a structured, organisation-wide system to identify, assess, and manage risks—both at the strategic and project level. Celia immediately activated the Strategic Risk Register and empowered project managers to build their own registers for each initiative.


Each risk was scored using Epic’s built-in algorithm, which calculates both Raw and Net Risk based on Impact vs Likelihood. Control measures were documented with target dates, and ownership was assigned to ensure accountability. The result? A live dashboard of colour-coded risks, complete with RAG status indicators and timestamped updates.


Leadership now has clear visibility into emerging threats, while project teams are equipped to respond early and effectively. Most importantly, ABC Suites saw a measurable reduction in Red Zone risks—those with high impact and high likelihood—thanks to timely interventions and structured oversight.
